Best Pregnancy Pillow 2017: Reviews of the Top 3

Have you ever felt completely uncomfortable and unable to sleep in the midst of a pregnancy? Of course you did, all of us mothers have! There are many periods of discomfort and inconveniences during pregnancy, but your sleep shouldn’t be one of them. When I first found out about the maternity pillow, I was in awe. How could I not have known about this before? If this is your first time reading up on it and are moderately interested in buying one, don’t even second guess yourself. Owning one of the best pregnancy pillows is absolutely essential because the comfort and support they give you is unmatched.

Throughout my second and third pregnancy, I stocked up on several of these and let’s just say the nights were much easier than my first pregnancy without them (especially in your third trimester when you are so bloated). Today, I will be showing three of my favorite and in my opinion┬áthe top pregnancy pillows that I have come across throughout the years. Before we begin, let me explain why these are definitely necessary during pregnancy just in case you are still on the fence about them.

Four Reasons To Buy A Great Pregnancy Pillow

  1. Comfort:

This is the most obvious and sometimes the sole reason why women buy these pillows. Regular pillows just don’t have a conducive shape to adequately support a pregnant lady’s body the right way. Maternity pillows do.

  2. Relieves back pain and whole body strain:

Pre and post natal body pillows have been proven to relieve pain on vital parts of the body, such as your back, legs, hips, shoulders and even neck that otherwise would become very tense during pregnancy. You can prevent bad posture from forming because of your baby bump as well. Perhaps the most important function of these pillows is that the greatly reduce sciatica during pregnancy.

  3. Increases Circulation of Blood:

This is a very underrated reason and one that is not talked about so much. A great pillow will also do a solid job of increasing circulation throughout your body so that you can stay relaxed and positively energetic.

  4. Prevents Heartburn and Carpal Tunnel:

Yes some of these pillows actually have the capability to prevent heartburn, carpal tunnel and even nasal congestion. These are pesky and annoying side effects of being pregnant and they can be diminished with the right pillow to rest on.

Now you see that a maternity body pillow is not just for convenience and comfort, but they also are very beneficial to your overall health from your first trimester and on as well. Okay, let’s get down to the nitty gritty now.

Top 3 Pregnancy Pillows of 2017

#3: Blowout Bedding U Shaped Pregnancy Pillow:U shaped maternity pillow

  • Does a great job of preventing sciatica and carpal tunnel.
  • U shaped pregnancy pillow so it contours to your body easily.
  • In the middle of the firmness-softness scale.
  • 60″ length for maximum coverage.
  • I recommend this for side sleepers
    Maternityathome’s Rating: 9.2/10

This was the first pregnancy sleeping pillow that I ever owned and I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond one day while me and my husband were shopping there. It is very easy to fall in love with this pillow, especially if you’re a side sleeper. As you know, sleeping on your side during your third trimester is very painful and often times just not possible. This pillow makes it so that you are easily able to sleep on your side again and it does wonderful job of supporting your back so you don’t wake up with a sore spine or a sciatica aggravation. One thing to note is that it is very large, measuring at about 5 feet in length so make sure you have space in your bed for this. If not, you can always just kick your husband off the bed.

#2: Leachco Snoogle Mini Compact Side Sleeper:

Snoogle side sleeper pillow

  • Conforms to your body’s shape with it’s clever design.
  • Great for nursing the baby post birth.
  • Almost 28″ long so it does not take that much space.
  • Light and easy to shift around with.
  • I recommend this for tummy sleepers.
    Maternityathome’s Rating: 9.5/10

Leachco is famous for making super high quality and comfortable body pillows suited for pregnancy. The Snoogle is no exception to that and is a must have if you want a smaller and more compact pillow. Sitting at just over 2 feet in length and just under 2 feet in width, this one is much easier to share the bed with. It was ideally designed and is the best pregnancy pillow for stomach sleepers, but it can work for side sleepers as well. I really like the fact that it is light (under 3 lbs) because I always turn while I`m sleeping at night. The price is great as well, so if you are looking for a cost efficient option, than this is definitely the one to get.

#1: Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pillowleachco snoogle total body pillow

  • Supports back, neck, hips, and just about every other part of your body.
  • Designed so well that it literally takes the place of multiple pillows
  • Helps in preventing heartburn and sciatica, and controls body heat very well.
  • 60″ long and 24.8″ wide.
  • I recommend this for any type of sleepers, even back sleepers.

My number 1 choice definitely goes back to Leachco and it is their bigger pillow, the Snoogle total body. Designed by an ingenious registered nurse, this great full body pregnancy pillow does it all. It is very comfortable, supports every part of your body, and it conforms to any sleeping position. Don’t be surprised if you fall asleep on your side and wake up with your back on it and your head looking up. One great thing about the Snoogle total body is that it actually prevent those agitating heat strokes and night sweats. Furthermore, it is made from polyester it is free of any and all chemicals including BPA and Phthalate. It is the biggest and best maternity pillow in the Leachco line and is definitely one that you should try sleeping with at least once in your life. I actually still use it today even though I am not pregnant, and so will you!

Concluding Thoughts

There you have it, those are my pregnancy pillow reviews to make your sleep a much more soothing experience. From a medical standpoint, it is a great idea to have one of these during pregnancy and more doctors are starting to recommend it to women because of all the health benefits they provide. There are others out there, and I have tried a bunch of them but they just aren’t worth it in terms of quality and design. These three are the best overall and you should have no issues with any of them.

Some of you may be using multiple pillows right now and just barely getting by. Once you try a specially designed pregnancy pillow, you will soon realize that utilizing three or four pillows just doesn’t yield the same results due to the fact that they don’t contour to your body the same way and sometimes even end up getting scattered during your sleep cycle. If you have never slept with one, I urge all of you women to try it. You will have trouble going back to regular pillows after your baby is born, promise!
